Are you gearing up to apply for a visa to Portugal? As part of your application, you'll need to provide photos that meet specific requirements. In this essential guide, we cover the Portugal visa photo requirements to help you prepare the perfect photo for your application.

The Basics of Portugal Visa Photo Requirements

For your Portugal visa application to be successful, your photos must adhere to certain criteria. They must be in color, printed on high-quality paper, and recent (taken within the last six months).

Size and Position

Your photo should measure 35mm by 45mm. Your face should take up 70-80% of the photo, which is equivalent to a head height of 31-36mm. Your face should be centered and you should be looking directly at the camera.

Background and Lighting

The photo background should be plain and light-colored, with no shadows or patterns. The photo should have good contrast and natural skin tones.

Facial Expression and Glasses

Maintain a neutral facial expression, with both eyes open and mouth closed. If you wear glasses, they must not obscure your eyes, and there should be no glare or reflections.

Headwear and Clothing

Headwear is generally not allowed, except for religious reasons. However, it must not obscure any facial features. As for clothing, choose something you usually wear – uniforms or extravagant attire should be avoided.

Children's Photos

For children, the same rules apply. Make sure the child is looking at the camera with a neutral expression and no pacifier.
