The Trump administration has announced plans for an unprecedented immigration pathway called the "Gold Card," designed to attract ultra-high-net-worth individuals seeking U.S. residency and citizenship. According to recent statements, this premium program would require a $5 million payment directly to the U.S. government and is set to replace the existing EB-5 investor visa program, which the administration has criticized as ineffective and problematic.
What Is the Trump Gold Card?
The proposed Gold Card would function as a premium version of the traditional green card, providing enhanced permanent residency privileges along with a streamlined pathway to U.S. citizenship.
Unlike the current EB-5 program, which President Trump characterized as "full of nonsense, make believe, and fraud," the Gold Card would establish a substantially higher price point at $5 million per applicant while potentially removing some of the more complex investment requirements of previous programs.
"We're gonna be selling a gold card. You have a green card. This is a gold card," President Trump explained during the announcement. "We're gonna be putting a price on that card of about $5,000,000, and that's gonna give you green card privileges plus it's gonna be a route to citizenship."
